Dont know exactly if you get around ricoh using expresscard, but afaik expresscard is for laptops the fastest way, because it docks pretty much directly to the pci bus system, so no unwanted latencies.

I figured installing the card on the laptop would go smoothly but I can’t get this thing to work. Thinkpad A – Bios 1. It just seems that not many people are attempting to use that particular combination, and if they’ve had r/rl/5c476iu with it, I can’t find any posts about it. FWIW, I decided to try out an expresscard fireware card with the TI chipset and this gave the exact same performance as the Ricoh, so no better really.

Lenovo Thinkpad T61 Slow PCMCIA Performance
At first I thought it might be the bit OS, but I recently tried the card on a friend’s Thinkpad with bit Vista and I encountered the same problems. Message 3 of That is why all the really expensive ricoj e. Using the same install procedure as many times before, I install the drivers, plug the card in, and it is recognized fine. Message 5 of I tried it on another Thinkpad with the same hardware and encountered the same problems.
I definitely think it is a problem with the adapter.
What is your ASIO buffer size? At first I figured it was an issue with the card, the drivers, or the OS, but the drivers are bit compatible, and I have tested the card on another laptop running XP x86 and it worked fine. What I had to do was raise my ASIO buffer size to when recording, and to or when working with plugins and effects in Ableton.
